Dolly Varden Silver (TSXV:DV) has yielded 1,091 grams per ton (g/t) of silver over 9.38 m in step-out drilling at its Kitsault Valley project in British Columbia.

The drill hole in question, DV24-404, reached as high as 2,505 g/t silver, while also intersecting 1.35 per cent lead and 1.40 per cent zinc at the Wolf target, which features epithermal vein and vein breccias along a zone of high-grade silver mineralization. Mineralization underneath the sedimentary rock cap and the initial Wolf deposit that comes to surface has a plunge extent of more than 950 m.

DV24-404 and three other satellite drill holes (DV24-409, 412 and 414) stepped out 40 m southwest of the base of the sedimentary cap. Assays are pending for the three satellite drill holes.

Additionally, drill holes DV24-396 and DV24-402 targeted the upper northeast portion of the recently discovered Wolf vein extension, which reaches below the projected plunge of high-grade silver first discovered in DV21-273 in 2021. Both drill holes encountered alteration and the Wolf structure, suggesting the presence of elevated base-metal values.

The Wolf target will see 8,000 m of an ongoing 25,000-m drill program at Kitsault Valley with the goal of expanding and infilling the plunge of the target’s silver mineralization.

The 163 square-kilometre Kitsault Valley project features two high-grade silver and gold resources, Dolly Varden and Homestake Ridge, as well as the past-producing Dolly Varden and Torbrit silver mines. The project is on the same structural and stratigraphic belts that are host to many other high-grade deposits, including Eskay Creek and Brucejack. It also resides only 5 km west of the junior miner’s Big Bulk property, which is prospective for porphyry and skarn-style copper and gold.

Leadership insights

“We are encouraged with an increase in silver plus base-metal grades over potential bulk underground mining widths at the Wolf vein and eagerly anticipate more assays soon from this area,” Shawn Khunkhun, Dolly Varden Silver’s chief executive officer, said in a statement. “We are impressed with the consistency of mineralization, including strong native silver, within the intersection from drill hole DV24-404. Additional drilling to the southwest is being prioritized during the remainder of the 2024 drill season.”
