Scorpio Gold (TSXV:SGN) has completed Phase 1 drilling as part of its 2024 exploration program at the Manhattan District Project in Nevada.

The company stated in a news release that the first phase of drilling consisted of an initial five drill holes for 1,178 metres.

“The Phase 1 and Phase 2 holes have been planned in close coordination … with the dual purpose of being follow-ups to historic drilling, alongside moderate step-outs of known structures to connect multiple zones of mineralization, particularly the Goldwedge underground and Manhattan West Pit,” Harrison Pokrandt, vice president of exploration for Scorpio Gold, said in a statement.

Scorpio Gold has already kickstarted Phase 2, which will consist of 3,109 metres across 13 holes for the rest of the year.

The Manhattan District Project is a low-sulfidation epithermal gold deposit in Nye County, Nevada and contains a higher-grade coarse gold deposit previously identified through more than 100,000 metres of historic reverse-circulation drilling.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 will provide data for a preliminary metallurgical testing program, confirm previously drilled intervals at the Manhattan and Goldwedge targets, and extend understanding of the known mineralized structures.

New drilling will also serve as data for the planning of a claim-wide structural mapping campaign expected to begin in early September and will support the completion of an NI 43-101 compliant resource report.

With headquarters out of Vancouver, Scorpio Gold holds a 100 per cent interest in two past producing mines, the Manhattan Mine and the Mineral Ridge Mine, in the Walker Lane Trend of Nevada.

Shares of Scorpio Gold Corp. (TSXV:SGN) are down 3.85 per cent to C$0.12 as of 12:48 pm ET.
