Courier company ParcelPal Technology (PKG) has signed an agreement with one of Canada’s leading specialty pharmacy service providers.

The business in question, which remains unnamed, is one of the country’s fastest-growing and most trusted providers of such solutions. Its specialty services are available through a rapidly growing national network of pharmacy fulfilment centres across Canada.

Under the agreement, ParcelPal will provide this business’ customers with same-day and next-day prescription delivery services. The company will start by making this service available to different facilities in Edmonton and Calgary.

While the service will initially be available only in these Alberta cities, the company will eventually extend it to other cities.

ParcelPal’s CEO, Rich Wheeless commented on the need for prescription delivery services in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Many people around the country have multiple chronic health conditions, and as such, they are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, among other medical conditions,” he said.

“Therefore, it is all the more important that they continue to have safe access to the medications that they need in a timely manner,” he added.

Rich went on to say how proud he is that the company is able to provide such a vital service during this time, and into the future.

ParcelPal has been tackling its own issues with the coronavirus, which has impacted some of the company’s administrative areas. Two such challenges are being dealt with through blanket relief and extension grants from various regulatory authorities.

ParcelPal is relying on temporary blanket relief from the Canadian Securities Administrators to postpone the filing of its executive compensation disclosure. The company has also been granted a six-month extension on holding its Annual General Meeting for 2020, which it now plans to conduct by June 30, 2021.

ParcelPal Technology is down 6.25 per cent and is trading for C$0.075 per share, as of 10:43am EST.
