Dehydration tech company EnWave (ENW) has revealed successful results after testing a new terpene retention process for drying cannabis.

The company developed the Terpene Max cannabis drying program, and tested it on a specific cannabis strain that is low in THC. The new Terpene Max process ensured that temperatures stayed well below 40 degrees Celsius for the entire drying duration, which was less than two hours.

During testing, EnWave’s Radiant Energy Vacuum (REV) technology resulted in an average terpene retention level of 88 per cent. Traditional methods for cannabis drying, such as air drying and rack/room drying produce average terpene retention levels of only 79 per cent.

As such, the results showed that EnWave’s Terpene Max process is more effective at producing dried cannabis with higher terpene concentrations. This data was analysed at an independent testing facility, and lab-verified by a third party.

EnWave is likely to conduct further trials of the technology with multiple cannabis strains in the months to come. The company will also release more data, analysis, and certified results about its testing of Terpene Max in a paper to be published in January 2021.

EnWave believes that these encouraging results are likely to boost interest in its dehydration solutions, and their applications in the cannabis industry. The company’s REV technology has already been adopted by many licensed cannabis and hemp producers in Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.

EnWave is up 9.57 per cent and is trading for C$1.26 per share, as of 10:53am EST.
