Datametrex AI (DM) sold over 23,000 COVID-19 PCR tests from October to December, 2020.

These onsite tests were sold to film industry locations in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. The company said this represents approximately CAD$4 million in revenue for Q4.

In September, 2020 the technology company secured contracts with a large television and film production company to provide the PCR tests. Datametrex AI said the total amount of the contracts, if fully executed was over CAD$20M.

Datametrex AI CEO Marshall Gunter said the strong revenue growth reflects the company’s focus.

“With our pre-screening and screening tools, the film industry can continue to start new productions that provide much-needed content to the ever-expanding streaming services worldwide,” Gunter said.

Datametrex AI increased its lab and testing capacity to facilitate demand and will be ramping up testing this year. The company said its plans to continue expanding its services to additional film and production companies as well.

It believes the need for its products and services will increase as Canadian film production persists and US-based production companies move their projects up north.

According to Creative BC, Vancouver is the third-largest production center in North America, worth CAD $3.2 billion during 2018/19.

British Columbia is also home to several film and television studios, including Bridge Studios, Mammoth Studios, Vancouver Film Studios and The Crossing Studios.

Datametrex AI is trading in the grey at C$0.20 per share.
