First Hydrogen’s (FHYD) subsidiary, First Hydrogen Ltd, has appointed Afkenel Schipstra as Chief Operational Officer to grow the Energy division.

Schipstra joins from the multinational utility company ENGIE where she was the Senior Vice President of Hydrogen Business Development. She was responsible for large-scale hydrogen projects in the Netherlands, including HyNetherlands.

Prior to ENGIE, Schipstra was Hydrogen Program Manager at TSO Gasunie N.V. In her previous role as Senior Business Development Manager; she worked on carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS) and district heating projects. She is also a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee of HydrogenOne Capital Growth plc.

She is passionate about bringing more women into the industry and is an active member of Women in Hydrogen and a founding member of VIEN. 

Schipstra holds a Masters degree from the Rotterdam School of Management. She is a Registered Controller with more than 15 years of extensive experience in business leadership and financial management for the Energy sector. At First Hydrogen, she will assist the company in establishing environmentally sustainable green hydrogen production sites and delivering its refuelling solutions.

First Hydrogen is a designer and manufacturer of zero-emission, long-range hydrogen-powered utility vehicles in the UK, EU, and North America.

First Hydrogen Corp. (FHYD) is up 0.76 per cent, trading at C$2.65 per share at 2:40 pm ET.
