Electrum Discovery Corp. (TSXV: ELY) has announced encouraging results from its recent rock-chip sampling at the Timok East copper-gold project in Serbia.
In a news release, the company stated that the findings confirm significant extensions of the Bambino copper-gold anomaly and identify a potentially over-printing gold system near the Zijin Mining Bor Copper-Gold Mining Complex.
“Our new results are highly encouraging and support the thesis that significant mineralization exists outside the traditional Timok Magmatic Complex,” Elena Clarici, CEO of Electrum Discovery, said in a release. “With neighbouring Dundee Precious Metals Inc. identifying various copper-gold styles in sedimentary rocks, we are also observing similar mineralization trends to the east. This underscores the growing recognition of potential camp-scale mineralization adjacent to the main Timok porphyry trend.”
Key highlights
- Bambino Anomaly: Rock-chip assays reveal copper-gold mineralization extending over 1.5 kilometres at the Bambino site. Notable assay results include grades of 14.2 grams per ton (g/t) gold and 3.35 g/t gold, with copper-gold-bearing rocks showing samples of 4.93 g/t gold and 0.57 per cent copper, and 2.62 g/t gold and 1.21% copper.
- Northern Anomaly: High-grade copper-gold mineralization has been confirmed 3 kilometres north of the Bambino anomaly, uncovering previously unidentified silver potential along the same geological structure.
- Central Bambino Trenching: A 300-metre trenching program has been completed in the central Bambino area, revealing consistent quartz-limonite stockwork. Assay results from this trenching are expected shortly.
Expanded mineralization footprint
Rock-chip sampling has confirmed high-grade copper-gold mineralization across several hydrothermally altered zones north and south of the central Bambino target, aligning with previously reported surface copper-gold anomalies. Mineralized rocks characterized by quartz-limonite stockwork veining have been identified over four distinct ridges, extending along the same geological unit.
In total, 10 samples were collected from the Bambino 1 and 2 targets, returning gold grades between 0.51 and 4.93 g/t gold, copper grades from 0.42 to 1.12 per cent copper, and silver grades from 9 to 71 g/t silver.
Further sampling from the Bambino 3 and 4 targets yielded significant assay results, with one sample at Bambino 4 returning 0.53 per cent copper, 0.27 g/t gold, and 30 g/t silver. The consistency in grade and mineralization style across these targets suggests they might be direct extensions of the central Bambino system.
Future exploration plans
Electrum plans to conduct more detailed mapping and additional sampling to further delineate the extent of mineralization and investigate structural offsets related to the central Bambino target.
