In a media statement, the team explained that it was designated as the E-11A by the Air Force, these aircraft are often referred to as “Wi-Fi in the sky” due to their role as high-altitude communications gateways. The BACN-equipped Global aircraft provide enhanced situational awareness and interoperability by bridging voice and tactical data communications between air and ground forces, especially in challenging environments such as mountainous terrain or remote regions.
