We begin this week’s Stockhouse Gold Report with Altamira Gold (TSXV:ALTA), a junior miner in Brazil advancing a pair of certified resources within a more than 100,000-hectare portfolio. The company recently appointed Otavio “Tavi” Costa to its board of directors, bolstering its corner with one of the world’s most respected macro and mining investors with hundreds of thousands of followers across his social media platforms.

At the time of writing on Wednesday, the price of gold was US$4,793.53, according to data from ADVFN, up from US$4,758.46 per ounce in our April 1st report, holding steady supported by news of a two-week ceasefire between the US, Israel and Iran. Should a peace deal be reached, the US Federal Reserve would be more amenable to interest rate cuts in line with slowing economic growth, with GDP dropping by a full 3 percentage points quarter-over-quarter.

Another notable hire over the past week stemmed from Thunder Gold (TSXV:TGOL), a junior miner in Ontario that welcomed Canadian track and field Olympian Donovan Bailey to its board of directors. The company’s flagship Tower Mountain project near Thunder Bay hosts a mineral resource estimated at 514,000 ounces of gold indicated and 3.05 million ounces inferred, representing billions of dollars in the ground.

Also worth highlighting it the public listing of ICG Silver & Gold (CSE:ICG), whose control of approximately 10,000 acres in a historic Nevada mining jurisdiction backed by extensive rock chip sampling, thousands of metres of reverse circulation and core drilling, as well as tens of kilometers of CSAMT geophysics, positions the company to harvest exploration upside and build significant shareholder value. A phase-1 exploration program will begin imminently.

We end this week’s gold report with McFarlane Lake Mining (CSE:MLM), whose recent drilling results at its Juby project, located near Gowganda, Ontario, delivered a highlight of 0.95 grams per ton of gold over 92.6 metres, furthering leadership’s conviction that it is dealing with a potentially world-class deposit. Juby’s resource is currently estimated at more than 4 million ounces of gold.
