AgJunction (AJX) subsidiary Novariant has developed a modular automation system for Japanese manufacturing company Komatsu.

Specifically, the company’s latest customised autosteering solution will support Komatsu’s precision agricultural applications, such as its D51PF vehicle. This is the latest endeavour to build upon AgJunction’s ongoing development of innovative automation systems.

AgJunction worked closely with Komatsu in order to develop an automation system, using mapping, path planning, and autosteering modules. The modules in question were tuned to meet the specific requirements and vehicular characteristics that were set by Komatsu.

Komatsu’s Senior Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer, Yuichi Iwamoto, spoke highly of the results produced by the company’s collaboration with AgJunction.

“AgJunction was able to rapidly develop a customised autosteering system for our D51PF vehicle, which allowed us to quickly meet customer needs.

“We are excited to offer our customers a precision guidance retrofit kit for the D51PF that provides increased productivity and safety,” he said.

With the autosteering system now complete, AgJunction has already delivered the first shipment of production units to Komatsu.

The company’s President and CEO, M Brett McMickell, commented on AgJunction’s latest efforts for Komatsu, which may pave the way for further collaborations in the future.

“AgJunction is excited to provide a precision guidance retrofit kit for Komatsu’s D51PF.

“We look forward to growing our relationship with Komatsu by providing additional automation functionality and porting this system to other vehicles,” he said.

AgJunction (AJX) is down 1.89 per cent and is trading for $0.52 per share at 10:38am EDT.
