Alabama’s State Senate has chosen to implement Draganfly’s (DFLY) Vital Intelligence Smart Vital screening system.

The drone company’s system can monitor people’s vital signs, such as body temperature, heart rate, breathing rate, and oxygen saturation levels. By doing so, it can detect potential COVID-19 symptoms, such as elevated body temperature, and notify the screened individual that they need to be tested for COVID-19.

This is not the first time that Draganfly’s screening system has been used to combat COVID-19 in Alabama. In September 2020, the company announced that it would install its Vital Intelligence Smart Thermal + Vital screening and Social Distancing Awareness units at Alabama’s State University.

Since being installed, Draganfly’s technology has helped to improve adherence to social distancing protocols on ASU’s campus. The technology will now allow Alabama’s government to continue operating safely, amid rising coronavirus case numbers in the state.

Since December 4, the Alabama Department of Public Health reported a record high of 3,531 new COVID-19 cases. Over the last two weeks in particular, the state has averaged 2,461 cases each day, representing a 28 per cent increase on the previous two weeks.

Draganfly’s CEO, Cameron Chell, commented positively on the State Senate’s decision to use additional avenues of COVID-19 detection.

“It is a great honour that the Alabama Senate has chosen Draganfly to implement our Vital Intelligence technology,” he said.

“We are humbled by their trust in our technology and we are looking forward to this long-term partnership to help the Alabama Senate’s COVID-19 protocols,” he added.

Draganfly is up 10.87 per cent and is trading for C$0.51 per share, as of 10:50am EST.
