Alchemy Labs (TSXV:ALCH), a Canadian nanotechnology company, signed a non-recurring engineering contract to integrate its Crypsis thermal signature management technology, which offers multi-spectral camouflage on any fabric or rigid material, into applications for the Canadian defense and public safety markets.
The contract, signed with a Canadian textiles manufacturer and supplier to the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND), will see the parties develop and validate textile-based systems for potential domestic sale, with Alchemy retaining ownership of Crypsis and any related improvements or applications that arise during the partnership.

According to Thursday’s news release, Alchemy will be compensated primarily for engineering and technical development services under the partnership, with the project estimated to cost in the vicinity of C$250,000.
Contract work will be comprised of three phases, each subject to technical milestones, with a framework in place to negotiate a separate manufacturing agreement upon completion.
The deal follows from Alchemy and the DND’s previous development and field validation work on Crypsis camouflage technology, providing them with a technical foundation to pursue commercial sales.
Leadership commentary
“This agreement represents another important step in the commercialization of Crypsis and reflects the collaborative model we are pursuing within our defence business. Successful commercialization requires more than a strong material technology; it also requires product engineering, manufacturing knowledge and a clear understanding of customer needs. By bringing complementary capabilities together, this represents a major step towards delivering Crypsis-enabled textile systems that protect Canadian soldiers,” Khanjan Desai, Chief Executive Officer of Alchemy Labs, said in a statement.
