Vancouver-based Ares Strategic Mining (ARS) has started preliminary planning for a proposed fluorspar site in the Bell Hill mining area.

Previous sampling from the company’s Bell Hill claims has demonstrated high-grade fluorspar, leading it to believe in “the uniformity of the high-grade fluorspar exhibited throughout the Spor Mountain range,” according to a news release.

The company operates the Lost Sheep Fluorspar Mine in Juab County, Utah which includes that mountain range.

The Bell Hill mining area is “the logical next area to be developed in the Spor Mountain fluorspar district,” according to the company.

“We are very fortunate to have so many sites within our claims that offer the potential for further mining operations. The Bell Hill claims demonstrate
several tightly located fluorspar pipes, offering an extensive source of feed for processing,” said Ares president and CEO James Walker.

“Upon initiating operations on the Bell Hill claims the Company will seek to increase its processing and refining capacities to achieve greater outputs of its final fluorspar products.”

Fluorspar’s classification as a critical mineral in the United States should translate to a faster permitting period. This would allows mining operations to initiate more quickly than they would otherwise for conventional minerals.

Ares owns and operates the only permitted and producing fluorspar mine in the United States.

Fluorspar, also called fluorite, is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, and is a major source of hydrogen fluoride which is used to produce a number of different products.

The company is based in Vancouver, British Columbia and was founded in 2009.

Ares Strategic Mining is up 9.89 per cent with shares trading at C$0.50 as of 11:48am EST.
