Ascendant Resources (ASND) released assay results from the ongoing infill drill program at the Venda Nova deposit at its Lagoa Salgada VMS Project.

Based on the drill intercepts reported from hole ST_31, the company has defined a new high-grade copper zone with potential extension at depth.

Through 16 metres, hole ST_31 returned 2.6 per cent copper (Cu, with 4.33 per cent copper equivalent) from 505 metres, including 12 metres at 3.3 per cent Cu (5.50 per cent CuEq) from a total of 509 metres.

A new high-grade copper zone intersected at depth below current resource wireframe with 22 metres at 0.83 per cent Cu (2.11 per cent CuEq) from 541 metres.

Executive Chairman, Mark Brennan stated that as drilling continues, the team’s understanding of the deposit continues to improve and highlights the fact that this project remains in the early stages of defining a greater VMS system at Lagoa Salgada.

“These results are yet another in a stream of successive discoveries that have been uncovered as part of the infill program at Venda Nova and positions the project extremely well for both our upcoming Mineral Resource update targeted for Q3 and our future exploration programs at Lagoa Salgada.”

Ascendant (ASND) is a Toronto-based mining company focused on the exploration and development of the highly prospective Lagoa Salgada VMS project located on the prolific Iberian Pyrite Belt in Portugal.

Ascendant Resources Inc. (ASND) is trading steady at $0.175 per share as of 10:00 am ET.
