HPQ Silicon: Next Milestones Reached

Silicon is one of the most abundant elements on Earth. Nevertheless, high-quality industrial silicon is no ordinary raw material. Between the raw material and the end product, which is suitable for high-tech applications, lie complex production processes with stringent requirements for purity, energy consumption, and quality.

In the semiconductor industry, high-purity silicon forms the basis for wafers on which modern chips are manufactured. In the solar industry, silicon is the key component in the majority of photovoltaic modules produced worldwide. In battery technology, silicon has been regarded for years as a promising approach to improving the performance of lithium-ion batteries. This places silicon at the center of several megatrends.

In recent weeks, HPQ Silicon has achieved two significant milestones, thereby significantly advancing commercialization. With the successful UL 1642 safety certification for the new HPQ ENDURA+ Gen4 21700 lithium-ion cell, the Canadian company has taken an important step toward market launch.

This certification paves the way for customer evaluations, battery pack integration, and discussions with potential industry partners. The new Gen4 cell achieves fantastic performance figures at 6,500 mAh, representing an 8.3% increase over the previous-generation cell.

At the same time, HPQ, together with its French development partner Novacium, in which the Canadian company holds a roughly 37% stake, is expanding its international sales and business development efforts, with a focus on the industrial and defence sectors. The technology developed jointly with Novacium relies on silicon-based anode materials, which are superior to graphite-based alternatives in several respects.

In addition, the Canadian company is successfully advancing the development of a novel process for producing fumed silica. Using proprietary technology, HPQ aims to produce this industrial material more cost-effectively in the future while simultaneously generating significantly lower CO₂ emissions than conventional methods.

Furthermore, the company is working on innovative hydrogen technologies. Together with Novacium, it is developing a system that uses a patented silicon-aluminum alloy to generate hydrogen directly from water without relying on an electrolyzer. Target markets include mobile power supply, disaster response, and the defence sector. At the current share price of around CAD 0.14, the company has a market capitalization of approximately CAD 67 million.

Intel: Quarterly Results and Outlook Exceed Expectations

Just over a year ago, Intel was widely seen as a company in decline. It had been losing market share to AMD and lagged far behind Nvidia in the AI boom. However, the picture has changed fundamentally in recent months. This suggests that the restructuring course set by new CEO Lip-Bu Tan since taking office in March 2025 is beginning to deliver results. The company’s renewed strategic discipline—with a consistent focus on long-term growth and strict cost control, combined with clear communication—is being well received by the capital markets.

Every AI server requires high-performance processors, networking technology, and packaging technologies. Demand for Xeon processors is growing strongly. The foundry services business is also growing, albeit not as strongly as expected, and advanced packaging is making progress as well.

The latest second-quarter figures were, on the whole, a reflection of successful business performance. Revenue and profit rose significantly and exceeded analysts’ expectations. The outlook for the third quarter also turned out to be better than experts had anticipated.

Currently, the stock is trading at around USD 90, which is more than 140% higher than at the beginning of the year. A market capitalization of approximately USD 455 billion underscores the company’s position as one of the industry’s major players. Analysts expect the stock to deliver an average return of just under 30% over the next 12 months.

JinkoSolar: Has the Bottom Been Reached?

In many regions of the world, solar energy is among the most cost-effective forms of electricity generation. The International Energy Agency therefore continues to expect a strong expansion of installed solar capacity. Nevertheless, the market goes through cycles. Overcapacity in China led to a fierce price war and an erosion of margins.

Nevertheless, there are increasing signs that the bottom may have been reached for JinkoSolar shares. While module shipments declined significantly in the first quarter, the gross margin improved noticeably. The company is expected to release its second-quarter results in the second half of this month. Analysts currently assign the stock an upside of 80%. Since JinkoSolar is one of the world’s largest solar module manufacturers and has also internationalized its production, a potential industry consolidation also offers advantages.

With its diversified portfolio in the fields of battery technology, hydrogen, and high-performance materials, HPQ is positioning itself as an innovative company at the intersection of the energy transition, electromobility, and sustainable industrial production. The latest company announcements underscore progress in its commercialization strategy. Intel is also on the path to success. The market is responding positively to the management story. JinkoSolar’s upcoming quarterly results will provide a clearer indication of whether the company has now turned the corner.
