The new feature, driven by a novel AI model, goes beyond traditional spam and fraud detection, safeguarding customers in real time against one of the most sophisticated forms of fraud plaguing the industry today.
Since launching in 2025, Bell’s Suspicious Call Detection has screened more than 4.4 billion calls, blocking or labelling more than 540 million suspicious or fraudulent calls, with millions more expected to be intercepted before reaching customers thanks to the new anti-spoofing upgrade.
Spoofed call protection will automatically roll out to all customers using iOS and Android phones across Bell, Virgin Plus, Lucky Mobile, PC Mobile, No Name and Maxi mobile.
Bell grew revenue by a modest 4 per cent year-over-year in Q1 2026, increasing free cash flow by 0.8 per cent and adjusted EBITDA by 2.9 per cent, respectively, supported by nearly 50,000 new internet subscribers and Crave’s most watched quarter in its history.
Leadership commentary
“Phone scams are getting more sophisticated, and so is our network,” Steve Karan, Bell’s Vice President of Wireless Products and Logistics, said in Tuesday’s news release. “Suspicious Call Detection has already helped protect customers from hundreds of millions of spam calls. Now with a new AI model to catch and flag spoofed calls in real time, we’re adding another powerful layer of protection. It’s a significant advancement that helps Canadians stay safer and answer calls with greater confidence.”
