Bombardier (TSX:BBD) has once again redefined the boundaries of private aviation with a major announcement at the 2025 NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Las Vegas. The company revealed that its flagship Global 8000 aircraft has achieved a new top speed of Mach 0.95, making it the fastest business jet in history and the highest-speed aircraft in civil aviation.
Designed for ultra-long-range travel, the Global 8000 now combines unmatched velocity with a range of 8,000 nautical miles, enabling clients to reach their destinations faster while enjoying a cabin experience engineered for maximum comfort and rejuvenation.
“With our Bombardier Global 8000, our customers will now be able to reach their destinations even faster, arriving refreshed and ready to carry out their desired missions,” Bombardier’s president and CEO, Éric Martel said in a news release.
One of the aircraft’s standout features is its advanced wing design, which includes leading-edge slats that allow access to up to 30 per cent more airports than its closest competitor. This innovation not only enhances operational flexibility but also opens new possibilities for global connectivity.
Adding to the excitement, Bombardier announced that Comlux—a top name in business aviation—will take delivery of the Global 8000 in 2026. Known for its expertise in long-range operations with aircraft like the Global 6000 and Global 6500, Comlux is strategically expanding its charter fleet with Bombardier’s newest jet.
“The Bombardier Global 8000 aircraft integrates perfectly into our long-range fleet, in between our wide-body fleet and our Global 6500 fleet,” Comlux Aviation’s CEO, Andrea Zanetto explained in a media statement.
The Global 8000 is still undergoing final development and certification, with entry into service expected in 2025.
Bombardier designs, builds, modifies and maintains a line of jets for individuals, businesses, governments and militaries around the world. Its customers operate a fleet of more than 5,100 aircraft supported by 10 service facilities across six countries. The company operates aerostructure, assembly and completion facilities in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Bombardier stock (TSX:BBD) last traded at C$190.20 and is flying 95.62 per cent higher than where it was when the year began.
