Bombardier’s (TSX:BBD.A) recently debuted brand refresh has been lauded with a pair of Red Dot awards, which recognize the best in design and business across the world.

The jet maker received awards in the Brands and Communication Design categories at this year’s ceremony held on November 1 in Berlin, Germany, adding to the Graphis Design, Brand Impact and Transform North America awards the brand redesign has already won in 2024.

Bombardier’s new logo, revealed in April, features the silhouette of an aircraft breaking the sound barrier, capturing the company’s ambition and craftsmanship, with strokes of wind over a wing referencing its heritage.

The company’s shift from its traditional golden accents embodies its pivot to a pure-play business aviation specialist, following the US$3.6 billion sale of its transportation business to Alstom in 2021.

Bombardier’s award-winning work will be on display at the Museum of Communication in Berlin from Nov. 2024 to Jan 2025, followed by an exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen in spring 2025.

Leadership insights

“The Bombardier brand is iconic and renown for its heritage and industry-defining engineering, and evolving its brand identity was an incredible opportunity and a humbling journey,” Ève Laurier, Bombardier’s vice president of communications, marketing and public affairs, said in a statement. “Red Dot’s esteemed distinctions reaffirm that Bombardier truly belongs with the world’s leading inspirational brands.”
