- Battery manufacturer, Braille Energy Systems (BES) has announced that CEO Gary Economo will retire from his position on August 31
- Gary will still be available to provide advice and support to the company after he officially retires
- Braille Energy’s current President, Lindsay Weatherdon, will take over as CEO the day after Gary’s departure, September 1
- Lindsay will oversee the next stage in the company’s product development process, which will advance product commercialisation
- Braille Energy Systems (BES) is up 80 per cent and is currently trading at C$0.09 per share
Battery manufacturer, Braille Energy Systems (BES) has announced that CEO Gary Economo will retire from his position on August 31.
Gary will also retire from his position as a Director of the company, but will remain available to provide advice and support after retiring.
As of September 1, 2020, Braille Energy’s current President, Lindsay Weatherdon, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. He will maintain his position as company President after taking on the top job.
Outside of Braille Energy, Lindsay is the President of Concord National Ontario and Quebec, a consumer and packaged goods sales and marketing agency. He is also a shareholder and Director of Luxell Technologies.
Lindsay will oversee the next stage in the company’s product development process, which will advance product commercialisation.
Braille Energy’s Chairman of the Board, Jeffrey York, commented on Gary’s departure, and on the company’s future under a new CEO.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we would like to thank Gary for his leadership and outstanding achievements in delivering successful product development launches for Braille Battery and successful capital funding initiatives.
“We congratulate Gary for his success and valuable contributions to BESI, and now look forward to continue working with Lindsay to lead BESI through the continued growth and shareholder value creation, as we embark on the next stages of product development at Braille Energy Systems,” he said.
Incoming CEO, Lindsay Weatherdon, also commented on his promotion within the company.
“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to expand my role with BESI at this time, as we enter into the essential phase of the company’s development and advance commercialisation of the products in our development pipeline.
“With a strong development plan in place, I believe BESI has the potential to deliver significant shareholder value, while positively contributing to the lithium battery industry,” he said.
