RedwoodAI (CSE:AIRX) will receive up to C$240,000 from the National Research Council of Canada’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP) to fund Q-SAFE, its quantum and AI-enabled hazardous chemical identification technology.

The Canadian technology combines Redwood’s chemistry-focused AI platform with quantum-enhanced optimization methods, with eyes on safely and more reliably pinpointing explosive, toxic or other dangerous substances.

Funds will go towards improving the technology’s filtering and analytical processes, ideally reducing error rate without sacrificing overall performance, solidifying potential applications across defense and industry, including emergency response, pharmaceutical development and chemical logistics.

Project work is slated to kick off later this month, building upon recent enhancements to the company’s predictive AI models, including a 425 per cent increase in chemical reaction training samples.

Leadership commentary

“This support from NRC IRAP is an important step for Redwood as we continue expanding our chemistry AI platform into safety, security and defense-related applications,” Louis Dron, Chief Executive Officer of Redwood AI, said in Friday’s news release. “With Q-SAFE, we are working to build tools that can help organizations better identify hazardous chemicals and make faster, more informed decisions in environments where safety and reliability matter. We believe this project reflects the growing importance of dual-use technologies in Canada and internationally, and the role Redwood can play in developing practical solutions for organizations operating in defense, security and industrial environments.”
