Freight railway service CN (CNR) has appointed Range Royalty Management founder Margaret McKenzie to its Board of Directors.

As well as founding the notable oil and gas royalty investor, Margaret also operated as the company’s Chief Financial Officer between 2006 and 2014.

Before Range Royalty Management, Margret operated as CFO for Profico Energy Management and has served on a number of public and private boards over her 30 years in the industry.

Margaret tenure with CN is expected to commence on October 6. She’ll join the company’s 13 other board members, which include CN CEO Jean-Jacques Rusest and retired Chairman and CEO of American Airlines Donald J. Carty.

Robert Pace, Chair of CN’s Board of Directors, commented on the new appointment.

“Margaret’s extensive business and strategic planning experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and deep understanding of customers’ needs and expectations, combined with her financial acumen and expertise, make her an exceptional addition to CN’s Board.

“We look forward to her contributions to the Board’s deliberations as CN continues to play an essential role in the North American economy,” he said.

The new appointment follows a slew of news from the rail giant, including a new zero-emission truck contract, and another month of record grain movement.

The company’s recent operational leaps come in tandem with a strong market performance to-date.

After faltering at the onset of COVID-19, the company’s shares have risen from a 52-week low of around 92 dollars in March to a record high of just roughly $145 per share more recently.

CN (CNR) is up 1.42 per cent and is trading at $145.16 per share at 10:52pm EDT.
