Current Water (WATR) has received C$250,000 from Highland Engineering to develop its AmmEL–H technology.

Current Water’s AmmEL–H technology produces green hydrogen and removes toxic ammonia from wastewater. It serves as an alternative to traditional electrolyzers.

The company will use the funding to further its plan to transform municipal wastewater treatment facilities into profit centers by converting ammonia waste into nitrogen gas and fuel cell–grade hydrogen.

It believes these centers will facilitate the transition of municipal fleets from internal combustion engine vehicles to fuel-cell electric vehicles.

It is also exploring decarbonization opportunities in advanced biogas, fertilizer production, steel production, aviation and maritime sectors.

“We are very proud to collaborate with Highland Engineering in the development of our green hydrogen technology, which testifies to the originality of our intellectual property,” stated Gene Shelp, Current Water’s CEO. “This is the latest achievement for Current Water and we anticipate 2022 to become our most successful year to date with accelerating sales and revenues that will enhance our international reputation.”

Highland Engineering is a supplier of ground support equipment to all U.S. Department of Defense agencies, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Bureau of Reclamation and many industrial companies.

Current Water offers wastewater treatment and pump station manufacturing.

Current Water Technologies (WATR) is up by 10 per cent trading at $0.055 per share as of 9:30 am EST.
