Datametrex AI (DM) subsidiary Nexalogy is providing technology support for the campaign against intimidation of US electoral voters.

The 2020 US Presidential election between Republican incumbent Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden is less than three weeks away. Although the official date of the election is November 3, 2020, millions of American citizens have begun voting early.

Voter suppression and intimidation are age-old tricks used to stop people from having their say in an election. While the practice is nothing new, this year the tactics are especially prevalent, and becoming a major concern.

On social media, early voters have recently shared their experiences of voter suppression, such as having their mail-in ballots stolen. Prohibitively long waiting lines at polling locations have ventured into the realms of the ridiculous, with some people waiting in line for as much as 12 hours.

In collaboration with Democracy Labs and the #SeeSay2020 campaign, Nexalogy will use its technology to identify such incidents. The company will monitor Twitter for keywords such as “voter”, “suppression”, “intimidation”, and “long lines”, in order to collect data of reported suppression incidents.

This will help create a citizen reporting system which could quickly send information to those equipped to deal with such issues.

Datametrex AI’s CEO, Marshall Gunter, commented on the company’s contribution in the fight against voter suppression and intimidation.

“We are happy to be a supporting technology provider for Democracy Labs and SeeSay2020.

“The 2020 US election is likely to cost nearly $11 billion, making it by far the most expensive election in US history, according to projections by a leading campaign finance watchdog.

“Our AI-driven mapping technology allows for cyber filtration to identify voter intimidation for elections-related research,” he said.

Datametrex AI (DM) remains unchanged and is trading at C$0.11 per share at 1:00pm EDT.
