The portfolio, spun-out from Aldebaran Resources, spans the provinces of Salta, Jujuy and Catamarca, with the Rio Grande gold and copper project standing out as the clear flagship asset.
The project, only 8 kilometres west of Fortuna Mining‘s operating Lindero gold and copper mine, has been drilled for a total of 129 drillholes spanning a collective 74,201 metres, yielding a 2026 resource estimate of:
- 1.44 million ounces (Moz) of gold, 12.7 million ounces of silver and 384,000 tons of copper indicated.
- 1.54 Moz of gold, 17.8 Moz of silver and 420,000 tons of copper inferred.
According to Aldebaran’s Thursday news release, the newly listed company will trade with 76.8 million shares issued and outstanding, including a C$25.48 million subscription receipt conversion, granting Centauri a strong balance sheet to advance its district-scale portfolio.
Drill targeting at Rio Grande, including geophysical surveys and a review of historical data sets, puts the project on pace for a Q4 drilling program, its first since 2013.
Leadership commentary
“Almost a year since the announcement and creation of our new company, Centauri has shown consistent work progress and has now delivered on its goal of becoming an independent public company,” Sam Leung, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Centauri Minerals, said in Monday’s news release. “I want to thank our dedicated team and stakeholders who have contributed to this first chapter of Centauri. In particular, I want to thank the Aldebaran team for their full support and many extra hours in this spin-out and transition process.”
“Thank you to our investors who have placed their trust and over C$30 million in us to carry out this strong mandate for mineral exploration and project advancement in the established mining region of Northern Argentina. We also welcome new investors of Centauri through their Aldebaran shareholdings and will do our best to continue the chain of spin-out successes, from Antares Minerals to Regulus Resources, to Aldebaran Resources, and now to Centauri Minerals,” Leung added.
