Alabama State University will use Draganfly’s (DFLY) Vital Intelligence technologies to detect potential COVID-19 symptoms on its campus.

The historically black university, located in Montgomery, Alabama, is about to enter a new school year, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to protect the university’s students, faculty, and staff from the virus as it reopens, ASU has implemented various safety measures.

Draganfly’s screening technologies are an extra layer of protection that may help identify and mitigate the spread of COVID-19. These technologies the company’s Smart Thermal Temperature Assessment Stations, Vital Signs Assessment Stations, and Social Distancing Awareness technologies.

The technologies can detect elevated body temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation, all via a non-invasive camera. Those who demonstrate an elevated temperature can then undergo further screening to confirm a diagnosis of COVID-19.

ASU has agreed to purchase and install five Smart Thermal and Vital Sign Assessment units and five Social Distancing Awareness units on the campus. Spread out across campus, the screening stations will be accessible to staff, faculty, and over 4,000 students.

Draganfly’s CEO, Cameron Chell, commented on the company’s selection as a screening technology provider for ASU.

“We are excited that Alabama State University has chosen Draganfly to implement our Vital Intelligence technology on their campus.

“A screening protocol before entering their on-campus facilities is an important preventative measure during this pandemic.

“In addition, providing informative data in relation to the number of faculty, staff, and students tested can help to assess the overall health of their facility and help to keep their school safe and open,” he said.

Draganfly (DFLY) is down 3.39 per cent and is trading at C$0.57 per share at 10:37am EDT.
