Electrum Discovery (TSXV:ELY) announced encouraging results from its recent historic data review and field prospecting program at the Karamanica Prospect, part of its Novo Tlamino Project in southern Serbia.

Located within the highly prospective Serbo-Macedonian Metallogenic Belt, the Novo Tlamino Project is situated in one of Southeast Europe’s most underexplored yet mineral-rich regions. The Karamanica Prospect lies approximately 8 kilometers west of Electrum’s Barje deposit, which hosts an inferred mineral resource of 670,000 ounces of gold equivalent.

Geochemical insights and target definition

The Karamanica Prospect spans 12 square kilometers on the southern flank of the Crnook Dome complex, a key regional structure analogous to the Barje deposit. A 2019 soil geochemical survey revealed a 3-square-kilometer gold anomaly, prompting Electrum to undertake a detailed geochemical and field-based review to refine exploration targets.

Electrum’s analysis identified two distinct geochemical trends:

  • Type A (Au-As-Sb-Ag-Tl): A >2 km NW-striking corridor potentially representing the upper levels of a mineralized vein system linked to the nearby Podvirovi polymetallic mine.
  • Type B (Au-Pb-Zn-Cu): Concentrated in the northeast, this trend aligns with calc-schist units and suggests potential for skarn or carbonate replacement deposits (CRDs).

Field mapping and sampling

Recent fieldwork confirmed that Type B anomalies correspond with NW-SE trending gossan zones and brecciated fault structures, supporting a model for vein or CRD-style mineralization. Additionally, a newly identified ENE-WSW trending jasperoid and gossan zone in the west aligns with the Type A anomaly and the Crnook Detachment fault.

Twenty rock chip samples were collected for assay, and eight were selected for petrological analysis to characterize breccias and altered intrusives. These efforts aim to validate the source of gold-in-soil anomalies and refine drill targets.

Core review and petrology

Electrum’s team also reexamined drill core from its 2019 campaign, submitting 13 specimens to the University of Belgrade for petrological analysis. The focus was on understanding the relationship between intrusive phases, alteration styles, and mineralization. Notably, a calc-schist interval in hole KAR008 showed signs of skarn alteration, which, if confirmed, would significantly enhance the project’s exploration model.

Leadership insights

“Previous work across the Karamanica Prospect has highlighted a significant surface geochemical soil anomaly, with rock sample grades up to 11.10 g/t Au, 117 g/t Ag, 5.74% Cu, 5.18% Zn and 1.96% Pb, underlining the exceptional prospectivity of the broader Novo Tlamino Project’’ said Dr. Elena Clarici, CEO of Electrum Discovery Corp. explained in a news release. “Our ongoing work at Karamanica is providing a clearer geological model and highlighting the potential for both structurally controlled gold-base metal mineralised veins and skarn or carbonate replacement style mineralisation. We look forward to integrating the latest assay and petrological results to refine targets for the next phase of exploration at Novo Tlamino.”

Next steps

Electrum says it is now focused on:

  • Refining structural models to identify mineralized corridors
  • Mapping interactions between structures and carbonate lithologies
  • Integrating rock chip and petrological data into a comprehensive geological model

These efforts can guide the prioritization of drill targets and advance the Karamanica Prospect toward potential discovery.
