SPARC AI (CSE:SPAI) received an order for its GPS-denied mobile drone navigation and targeting technology from a group collaborating with the UAE Ministry of Defense, marking the company’s first order from the Middle East for its mobile tactical product.
The company will install and ship numerous devices to the client, where they will undergo field evaluation, in a bid to counter rampant GPS and GNSS interference as Iran’s attacks on Western-allied targets continue to escalate.
SPARC AI’s mobile platform, installed on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Tactical Edition, operates entirely offline and without the use of satellites, relying instead on software based on existing drone sensors plus accelerometer, gyroscope, barometric functionality to maintain positional awareness.
According to Thursday’s news release, the GPS issue has been noted by the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority, as well as EASA and IATA, highlighting the pressing need for reliable navigation and surveillance solutions, especially in conflict-affected areas.
In this way, SPARC AI finds itself in an advantaged position when it comes to garnering a greater share of the US$1.28 billion global military rugged smartphones market, which is expected to compound annually at 7.6 per cent, reaching a value of US$2.47 billion by 2033.
Management commentary
“This order represents another important step in validating the real-world demand for SPARC AI’s GPS-denied technologies,” Anoosh Manzoori, chief executive officer of Sparc AI, said in a statement. “As interference and disruption to satellite navigation systems become more common in operational theatres, the need for reliable alternatives is becoming increasingly urgent. Our mobile tactical solution is built to meet exactly that challenge.”
