Cannabis company, Fire & Flower (TSX:FAF) has begun providing a home delivery service in the Greater Toronto Area.

Customers in select areas within the GTA can now order cannabis products online, through the company’s e-commerce website. The Hifyre Digital Retail and Analytics Platforms enables the technology which powers this home delivery service.

Customers who make an order of over C$50 will receive their delivery the next day, with no delivery fee.

Home delivery services have exploded since the COVID-19 pandemic made face-to-face transactions less possible. Civilian lockdowns and mass closures of non-essential businesses created the need for services beyond the brick-and-mortar store.

On April 7, 2020, the Government of Ontario announced an emergency order, which the provincial cabinet approved. The order allowed cannabis retail stores to remain open, but to operate only through online purchases, curbside pickup, and home delivery.

On April 15, Fire & Flower began its home delivery service in Ontario, through its Ottawa and Kingston cannabis stores.

Fire & Flower’s CEO, Trevor Fencott, shared his thoughts on the rollout of the service.

“Fire & Flower welcomes this opportunity to demonstrate how private cannabis retail can showcase fully-compliant best-in-class services, such as e-commerce, home delivery, and curbside pickup to our customers.

“It is essential that private retail is able to compete on a level playing field with government-run e-commerce and home delivery cannabis services. Through the Hifyre Digital Retail and Analytics platform, we are well positioned should other methods of servicing customers open across Canadian provinces,” he said.

Fire & Flower (FAF) is down 9.68 per cent, and is currently trading for $0.56 per share, as of 12:05pm EDT.
