Fireweed Zinc (FWZ) has announced initial results from its summer drill program at the Macmillan Pass Project.

Macmillan Pass is a zinc-lead-silver project that covers 940 square kilometres in the Yukon.

The company has drilled five holes totalling 1,354 metres so far: three at the Boundary West zone and two at the Tom East Zone.

At Boundary West, drilling confirmed step-out intersections of mineralization near an area where the company previously intersected 4.22 per cent zinc, 0.34 per cent lead, and 25.6 g/t silver over 76.5 metres.

“The first few holes into Boundary West confirm the presence of mineralization both along strike and down-dip from last year’s new discovery,” said Fireweed CEO Brandon Macdonald.

An infill hole at Tom East intersected mineralization that was similar to what the company anticipated based on its location.

“The drilling at Tom East,” added Mr. Macdonald, “is both confirming the nature of mineralization and improving our understanding of the geology and structure of that deposit.”

He added, “We’re also pleased with the progress of the geophysical and mapping programs and look forward to defining new targets for future exploration and drill testing.”

Field crews began the season with geological mapping and prospecting around Boundary Zone and Boundary Zone West and are now working westwards onto the Sol and Oro claims acquired by Fireweed last year.

Fireweed Zinc is a mineral exploration and development company and is engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and development of mineral assets.

Fireweed Zinc (FWZ) is up 3.03 per cent, trading at $0.68 per share as of 11:12 am ET.
