IAMGOLD Corporation (IMG) has released assay results from its 2021 drilling program at the Rouyn gold project.
The exploration drilling program was focused on the Lac Gamble zone at the Rouyn project, which is located in western Quebec.
Craig MacDougall, Executive VP of growth at IAMGOLD, commented,
“Our drilling program at Lac Gamble earlier this year specifically targeted some selected areas for possible extensions, as well as to complete some initial geotechnical drill holes to assess rock quality in the context of a potential underground mining scenario.”
Today’s report includes assay results from seven diamond drill holes completed as part of the winter program, totalling 1,826 metres.
In one hole, drilling intersected 16.1 g/t gold over 3.2 metres, including 40.6 metres over 1.2 metres.
“The results continue to strengthen our understanding of the deposit geology and geotechnical rock quality appears in line with our expectations from the initial assessment,” said Mr. MacDougall.
The geotechnical drill program consisted of four holes drilled over 720.5 metres and was followed by an expansion drill program consisting of three diamond drill holes covering 1,105 metres.
One hole, GA-21-782, demonstrated that the Lac Gamble zone could extend further in its western extensions at depth.
Exploration drilling resumed at the Rouyn Project in June. A planned 9,000-metre diamond drilling program is in progress to evaluate the resource potential of other selected targets, including the Cinderella and Augmitto areas located further west of the Lac Gamble zone.
