IAMGOLD (TSX:IMG) releases final Rouyn project assays

IAMGOLD (IMG) has revealed the final assays from its recent exploration program at the Rouyn gold project in Quebec.

12 holes were drilled at the property’s the Lac Gamble zone, intersecting promising mineralisation. The standout result returned a 4.1 metre strike at 10.4 grams per tonne gold, as well as two metres at 7.8 grams per tonne of gold further downhole.

A separate hole returned 8.9 metres at 4.3 grams per tonne, which included two metres strike at 15.1 grams per tonne of gold. The final signification resul, from drill hole 769, returned 7.4 metres at 8.3 grams per tonne gold, which included one metre at 46.3 grams per tonne gold. 

The 4,000-metre program at the Lac Gamble zone hopes to expand a future resource estimate by drilling at 50-metre intervals across the site. 

Following the completion of work at Lac Gamble, work has already restarted at the nearby Astoria zone, located two kilometres to the east. 

Drilling at Astoria will include a further 5,000 metres of exploration, targeting mineral continuity and outline the resource. 

Craig MacDougall, the Senior Vice President of Exploration for IAMGOLD said the company was able to complete a significant part of the program, despite delays during the quarter due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“With the results from the program now in hand, the team are working to update our deposit model to support a further initial resource estimate for the Lac Gamble zone,” he said. 

IAMGOLD (IMG) is down 0.7 per cent and is trading at C$5.57 per share at 1:45 pm EDT.
