The Quebec government has awarded a C$245,355 grant to Imperial (IPG) to optimize its metals recovery process.

The patent-pending recovery process concerns scandium-rare earth mineralization at its Crater Lake Project 200 km northeast of Schefferville, Quebec.

The optimization study will improve scandium recovery, lower mine operating costs and reduce the project’s carbon footprint.

The company expects SGS Canada to complete the study by Q3 2022. Results will inform the engineering design of Imperial’s Crater Lake pilot plant.

The grant is related to Quebec’s $4.25M Mining Exploration Support Program for Critical and Strategic Minerals, 2021-2024.

“We are grateful to the Government of Quebec and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources for acknowledging Imperial’s vision of developing a strong scandium and rare earth industry as supporting the Quebec government’s Green Economy Plan, 2030,” said Peter J. Cashin, President and CEO of Imperial Mining.

Imperial Mining Group is a mineral exploration and development company focused on technology metals projects in Quebec.

Imperial (IPG) closed down by 3.23 per cent trading at $0.15 per share.
