ITM Power – Will the Government Bring About a Turnaround?

After an extended period of stagnation and drastic price declines, in some cases exceeding 90%, the hydrogen sector currently appears to be waking from its deep slumber. While many market participants had already written off the industry, new government initiatives and multi-billion-euro investment programs in Europe are driving a noticeable revival. There are growing signs that the operational scaling of the technology is finally bearing fruit and that the phase of purely conceptual development is coming to an end.

In this dynamic environment, ITM Power is making waves. The British government is investing directly in the company through the investment firm Great British Energy. With a capital injection of GBP 40 million as part of a private placement, the government is securing approximately 10.4% of the shares. In addition, the electrolysis specialist has received funding commitments totaling an additional GBP 46.5 million to expand production of the innovative “Chronos” generation. This investment is seen as a tremendous vote of confidence. It grants ITM Power a unique position as a strategically indispensable partner within the British energy infrastructure, providing the company with long-term planning security.

The market reaction was correspondingly euphoric. With a double-digit price gain, the stock broke out of its months-long sideways trend and reached new yearly highs. Thanks to the strengthened balance sheet, which now shows liquidity of more than GBP 200 million, the risk of share-diluting capital measures in the near future is low. From a technical perspective, the target of EUR 1.15 is once again within reach after the successful breakout above the key EUR 0.82 level. For shareholders, this breakthrough marks the potential start of a new, impulsive upward trend.

Lahontan Gold – Conditions for a Revaluation Set

The US state of Nevada is one of the world’s leading gold regions, and the Walker Lane Trend in particular is considered one of the most exciting exploration corridors in North America. Here, Lahontan Gold is advancing the development of its Santa Fe Project, a former producing mine with existing infrastructure and accelerated permitting prospects. This combination often forms the basis for a revaluation in the commodities sector.

The project itself is already well advanced. Over 1.5 million ounces of gold equivalent in the “indicated” category provide a solid foundation. Added to this is significant growth potential from further drilling targets. The geology is particularly attractive, as large portions of the mineralization are oxidized and near-surface. This enables cost-effective open-pit mining and the use of proven heap leaching processes. Initial economic studies point to comparatively low capital intensity coupled with robust margins.

Additional momentum comes from strong drilling results confirming a high-grade oxide core, as well as expansion into the nearby West Santa Fe area. At the same time, the company is leveraging modern technologies and benefiting from regulatory tailwinds in the US. This increases its appeal not only to investors but also to larger producers, who are increasingly seeking development-ready projects in secure jurisdictions.

A key factor is the recent capital raise of over CAD 13 million. It secures funding for the next development phase and provides planning certainty well into the future. At the same time, the participation of institutional investors signals confidence in the company’s story. Additional funds from warrants could further strengthen the cash position. This means an advanced project meets a solid financial foundation, a combination that offers significant upside potential at this stage.

DroneShield – Strong Strategy and Unsettled Investors

The Australian drone defense specialist DroneShield is currently undergoing massive personnel changes. After more than a decade at the helm, CEO Oleg Vornik has stepped down, and Supervisory Board Chairman Peter James will also not be standing for re-election. Operational leadership will henceforth be assumed by Angus Bean, a long-time insider and the technological architect of the company’s proprietary defense systems. He will be supported by Hamish McLennan, who will assume the role of Chairman starting in May. However, this abrupt change is met with mixed feelings among investors, as the outgoing leadership had already squandered much of the market’s trust last fall through extensive and surprising stock sales.

Despite the personnel turmoil, the company is performing at its best operationally. The strategic realignment is clearly focused on artificial intelligence and scaling. With an engineering team that has grown to over 350 specialists, DroneShield is developing advanced, AI-powered command and control systems.

The goal is to establish itself permanently as a technology leader in the defense sector. These plans are underpinned by excellent financial results. In the first quarter of 2026, revenue surged 87% year-over-year to 63 million Australian dollars. For the entire current fiscal year, the group can also already look forward to firmly committed revenue of USD 140 million.

On the stock market, however, the shake-up caused considerable nervousness. The stock temporarily plummeted by nearly 20% in the wake of the resignations. Additionally, short-term signs of geopolitical easing from the Middle East weighed on the entire defense sector. Analysts are viewing the current situation with caution. Investment firm Jefferies maintains its “Hold” rating with a price target of AUD 3.70. Experts are first demanding proof that the new management team is capable of smoothly working through the full order books and regaining lost confidence. From a technical analysis perspective, however, market observers see short-term recovery potential of around 30% if the price stabilizes.

ITM Power could benefit from the hydrogen comeback thanks to government support. Lahontan Gold, with its advanced project and fresh capital, is poised for a potential revaluation. DroneShield combines strong growth with an AI focus and offers opportunities for a dynamic recovery following its recent setback.
