Liberty Defense Holdings (TSXV:SCAN) is gearing up to deploy its HEXWAVE product across Canada, the company revealed on Monday.

In a press release, the Vancouver-based company said that it has been granted a formal equipment authorization approval from the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), which will allow HEXWAVE to be deployed for commercial and government use across the country.

Notably, HEXWAVE will be used in multiple markets such as aviation, courthouses, national labs, prisons and government facilities.

“This is an important milestone for HEXWAVE, allowing the company to deliver products into Canada, a growing market for enhanced on-person screening applications,” Bill Frain, CEO of Liberty Defense Holdings, said in a statement. “We already have orders in the region and plan to start delivering units in April given this important certification.”

Radiofrequency devices require proper authorization before being marketed and deployed in Canada. ISED Canada certification is a mandatory process for any radio equipment that wants to be sold or imported into Canada.

The HEXWAVE product is a contactless threat detection system that uses low-power radar imaging together with artificial intelligence (AI) and computing platforms to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic threats.

In March, the company received approval for HEXWAVE from the Federal Communications Commission, an agency that ensures radio frequency devices used in the United Staes operate without causing harm and comply with its rules.

“This is an important milestone for the New Production Unit, allowing the company to deliver products to non-government/commercial customers,” Frain said in a statement. “We continue to receive orders in several market verticals in the commercial space given the HEXWAVE’s ability to detect a broader range of threats, including non-metallic items.”

Liberty Defense Holdings provides multi-technology security solutions for concealed weapon detection in areas such as airports, stadiums, schools and more.

Shares of Liberty Defense Holdings (TSXV:SCAN) are up 11.76 per cent to C$0.19 as of 11:06 am ET.
