Liberty Defense (TSXV:SCAN) won a 2023 ASTORS Homeland Security Award from American Security Today (AST) for its HEXWAVE system.

HEXWAVE uses millimetre wave, 3D imaging and artificial intelligence (AI) to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic weapons – including 3D-printed guns and liquid, plastic and powder explosives – without having to divest patrons of items on their person. HEXWAVE was awarded the Gold ASTORS Award in the Best Metal/Weapons Detection Solution category.

Now in its eighth year, AST’s Annual ASTORS Awards is a U.S. Homeland Security Awards Program that recognizes industry leaders of physical and border security, cybersecurity, emergency preparedness – management and response, law enforcement, first responders as well as federal, state, and municipal government agencies in the acknowledgment of their outstanding efforts to keep the nation secure.

The awards program is designed to honour distinguished government and vendor solutions that deliver enhanced value, benefit and intelligence to end users in a variety of government, homeland security and public safety vertical markets.

“This is a clear recognition of the enhanced detection capability of the HEXWAVE screening for all threats, non-metallic and metallic, that can pose a threat at checkpoints,” Liberty’s CEO Bill Frain said in a news release. “We are excited that the HEXWAVE is now commercially available and deployed to the market to provide a broader threat capability.”

Liberty Defense provides multi-technology security solutions for concealed weapons detection in high-traffic areas, including airports, stadiums, schools, and more.

Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. opened trading at $0.16 per share.
