Maple Gold Mines (MGM) and Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM) identified new targets across its JV area between the Douay Gold and Joutel Gold projects in Quebec.

According to Maple Gold, results from the survey were analyzed alongside existing data to identify anomalies thought to be prospective for pyritic gold and volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) styles of mineralization. These include the new targets at the Joutel as well as the Douay southeast, northeast, and central areas.

“A key pillar of our strategy is to focus drilling and exploration work in areas that exhibit potential for additional larger and higher-grade mineralized zones at Douay, while also testing the resource potential that remains along and beyond the entire past-producing Eagle-Telbel mine trend at Joutel,” Fred Speidel, Vice President of Exploration at Maple Gold, said.

The company stated it has already begun drilling step-out and deep targets at both projects because these new survey results point to additional targets not only in the Eagle-Telbel mine area and along its lateral extensions, but also on the greater Douay property.

Maple Gold stated it has previously identified VMS targets via prospecting in 2018 along the greater Douay area.
