Canadian space technology firm MDA Space (TSX:MDA) unveiled its complete MDA Chorus Earth observation product portfolio at World Space Business Week, expanding its commercial geointelligence offering ahead of the planned launch of the MDA Chorus constellation later this year.
The announcement marks a key milestone in the company’s Earth observation strategy, introducing a fully integrated suite of products designed to give customers greater control over the collection, management and analysis of geospatial intelligence data. The portfolio combines satellite assets, ground infrastructure, archive access and analytics into a unified commercial architecture aimed at defence, security, infrastructure and environmental monitoring users.
MDA Space said the expanded offering is built around its next-generation MDA Chorus constellation and includes three new customer-facing solutions: MDA Chorus Command, MDA Chorus Command Pro and MDA Chorus Intelligence.

“Earth observation at MDA Space has always meant more than building world-class spacecraft. We have spent decades turning synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data into intelligence products for maritime, defence and critical infrastructure monitoring,” MDA Space’s CEO, Mike Greenley, said in a news release. “With this new expanded MDA Chorus product line, we have taken that same heritage and built it into a user-friendly and complete product system that customers can directly access, task, and grow with.”
MDA Chorus Command serves as the primary operational interface for customers, allowing users to search archived imagery, define areas of interest, set imaging priorities, coordinate tip-and-cue operations and schedule data acquisitions. The platform also includes application programming interface connectors, user guides and a knowledge hub designed to streamline access to MDA Chorus services.
For customers requiring enhanced operational autonomy, MDA Chorus Command Pro integrates a regional ground station directly into customer operations. According to the company, this capability enables direct satellite downlink and near-real-time local data processing, reducing latency while providing greater independence for defence organizations and operators of critical infrastructure.
The third component, MDA Chorus Intelligence, delivers a suite of geointelligence analytics products drawing on the company’s SAR expertise. Applications include maritime domain awareness, vessel detection, oil-on-water monitoring, ground deformation analysis and energy infrastructure monitoring. The platform incorporates SAR imagery and telemetry, geographic information system (GIS) data products, reports and selected third-party datasets.
At the center of the ecosystem is the MDA Chorus constellation, a three-satellite Earth observation system consisting of two newly built spacecraft and the company’s existing RADARSAT-2 satellite. The new satellites include one X-band and one C-band SAR spacecraft, which together are expected to provide high-revisit, all-weather imaging capabilities.
The portfolio launch follows the opening of MDA Space’s new MDA Chorus Control Centre last month, another operational readiness milestone as the company prepares for the constellation’s deployment. MDA previously indicated that the constellation remains on track for launch in late 2026.
For investors, the announcement highlights MDA’s ongoing efforts to expand recurring Earth observation and geointelligence revenue opportunities. By offering integrated data acquisition, tasking, processing and analytics capabilities through a single platform, the company is seeking to position MDA Chorus as a comprehensive commercial Earth observation system serving both government and enterprise customers.
The launch of the constellation later this year is expected to be a significant catalyst for MDA’s Earth observation business, potentially increasing the company’s capacity to deliver near-real-time intelligence products to customers operating in defence, security, environmental and critical infrastructure sectors worldwide.
MDA Space Ltd. is one of Canada’s largest and most established space technology companies, best known for robotics systems such as Canadarm and its involvement in government and commercial satellite missions. The company has been expanding rapidly into next‑generation satellite manufacturing, Earth observation systems, and deep-space robotics.
MDA Space stock (TSX:MDA) opened trading around 5% higher at C$41.81 and has risen more than 60% since the year began.
