Nextleaf Solutions (OILS) has been granted a patent by the United States Patent Office for a process to produce solventless cannabis concentrate.

Currently, Nextleaf has 12 issued U.S. patents and over 60 globally in regard to extraction, purification, and delivery of cannabinoids.

Nextleafs most recent U.S. patent covers a process whereby trichomes are made brittle from exposure to low temperature and separated from plant material during agitation and through a series of filtration.

By possessing this patent, Nextleaf adds to its intellectual property portfolio for differentiated formats and delivery technology.

CEO of Nextleaf solutions, Paul Pedersen, is thrilled with the news.

“We’re excited to start 2021 with the 2nd largest portfolio of U.S. patents among all cannabis companies,” he said.

With the Republicans almost out of office, Pedersen is eagerly awaiting the Democratic Party to take the house.

“With the results of the 2020 U.S. elections, the passing of the MORE Act in December, and the Democratic Party gaining control of the U.S. Senate, we believe cannabis legalization in the United States will become a reality within three years,” he added.

Nextleaf Labs’ bulk cannabis distillate supply contract is with a local British Columbia-based licensed producer.

In related news, the company’s fourth quarter report is set to be released on February 2, 2021.

Nextleaf is down 5.26 per cent and is trading at C$0.36 per share at 11:42am EST.
