NFI Group (NFI) has received an order for 46 electric buses for Stagecoach fleets in Scotland.

Stagecoach’s order is for 24 single deck and 22 double deck buses.

NFI subsidiary Alexander Dennis Limited, the U.K.’s largest bus manufacturer, will assemble the zero-emission vehicles as part of its BYD U.K. electric vehicle partnership.

Alexander Dennis will complete the order from its factory in Falkirk using BYD’s battery electric driveline technology.

The vehicles are part of a total of 172 the partnership will provide, part-funded by the Scottish government, to help bus companies invest in electric vehicles and associated infrastructure.

Paul Soubry, NFI’s President and CEO, commented,

“We are excited about this substantial order of new zero-emission electric buses that continues to solidify the BYD ADL partnership as the leader in battery-electric buses in Scotland and the rest of the UK.

We look forward to working closely with Stagecoach to get these new buses onto the roads of Aberdeen, Perth and Kilmarnock at pace to lower emissions and provide cleaner transport.”

“As Scotland gears up to host the COP 26 climate change summit in November, it’s a crucial time for us all to think about how we can help deliver a greener recovery from COVID-19,” said Sam Greer, Regional Director for Stagecoach in Scotland.

Alexander Dennis Limited is a designer and manufacturer of double deck buses with over 31,000 vehicles in service in the UK, Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada and the United States.

NFI is focused on the electrification of mass mobility with zero-emission buses and coaches, infrastructure and technology.

NFI Group (NFI) is up 2.33 per cent and is currently trading at C$27.26 per share as of 11:53 am ET.
