NFI Group (NFI) has taken an order from National Express West Midlands for another 170 double deck electric buses.

The fleet, which will be the largest of the type in the U.K., includes an earlier order for 130 buses that are part of the U.K. government’s ambitions to make Coventry the country’s first All-Electric Bus City by 2025 and a zero-emission bus fleet in the U.K. by 2030.

Via its subsidiary, Alexander Dennis Ltd., the buses will be delivered by the end of 2024.

Alexander Dennis’ Group Commercial Director, Martin West said this move will also help National Express deliver its plans in support of the West Midlands’ target to become a zero-carbon region by 2041.

“This repeat order from National Express will create the largest fleet of BYD AD Enviro400EV electric double deck buses in the country and shows the gathering pace of the transition to zero-emission mobility.”

NFI is an independent bus and coach manufacturer. It supports growing North American cities with scalable, clean, and sustainable mobility solutions.

The company also operates the Vehicle Innovation Center (VIC). It is the first and only innovation lab dedicated to advancing bus and coach technology and providing workforce development.

NFI Group Inc. (NFI) opened trading at C$7.73 per share.
