NuRAN (NUR) has signed a five-year mobile wireless infrastructure contract with MTN Ivory Coast.

MTN provides voice, data, digital, fintech, wholesale and enterprise services to more than 280 million customers in 21 emerging markets focused on Africa and the Middle East.

The contract will see NuRAN install up to 1,000 rural sites under its network-as-a-service (NaaS) model in the Ivory Coast. The sites could bring mobile connectivity to over 3 million people.

The company sees the potential to generate over US$75 million in gross revenue over the course of the contract. It will earn fees on a revenue-sharing basis.

The project is expected to support 2G and 3G with a variety of site categories to accommodate different population densities and coverage areas.

NuRAN expects to retain ownership of the infrastructure after completing the contract.

The company has also added 11 network sites, including its first site in South Sudan and 10 in Cameroon, bringing its total live sites to 101 under its NaaS business model.

“With the addition of these 1,000 sites, we have now reached 4,142 sites under contract and are quickly approaching our goal of 10,000 sites under contract within five years,” stated Francis Letourneau, NuRAN’s CEO. “NuRAN is proud to be at the forefront of our mission to bring essential mobile connectivity to those that need it most in a cost-effective, profitable and environmentally-friendly manner.”

NuRAN Wireless is a global rural telecommunications company.

NuRAN (NUR) is up by 1.56 per cent, trading at $0.65 per share as of 10:30 am EST.
