Nuvei (NVEI) has been granted a license for event wagering and fantasy sports payments in Arizona.

The approval from the Arizona Department of Gaming allows the company to expand its U.S. online sports betting footprint, which already includes Michigan, Virginia and Connecticut, among others.

It intends to use its deep-rooted industry expertise and future-forward solutions, including a broad range of payment methods, optimized transaction flows and instant payouts, to offer state operators greater revenue possibilities.

Online sports betting became legal in Arizona in April 2021. Regulated sportsbooks and sportsbook apps began formal operations in the state on September 9, 2021, just prior to the kickoff of the 2021 NFL season.

It is estimated that Arizona sports wagering will be worth over US$3 billion annually and generate over US$200 million in gaming revenue.

Nuvei unites payment technology and consulting to help businesses remove payment barriers, optimize operating costs and increase acceptance rates.

Nuvei (NVEI) is down by 4.81 per cent and is currently trading at $115.65 per share as of 1:40 pm ET.
