NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA / NEO:NVDA) stock moved higher in Tuesday trading after the chipmaker unveiled its latest flagship AI product.

The dominant AI chip supplier introduced its NVIDIA GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip, which connects two NVIDIA B200 Tensor Core GPUs to the NVIDIA Grace CPU over a 900GB/s ultra-low-power NVLink chip-to-chip interconnect.

NVIDIA stock lost more than 3 per cent after the market opened but ended the day up 1.07 per cent and has gained 28.77 per cent in the past month on its path back to its high of US$924.05 per share.

The new flagship chip can enable organizations to build and run real-time generative AI on large language models at up to 25 times less cost and energy consumption than its predecessor. The chip is expected to be used by the likes of Amazon, Alphabet’s Google, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, OpenAI and Tesla.

Nvidia, the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, makes chips that are mainly used for training large-language models such as Google’s Gemini, but is now trying to make its hardware more accessible for companies racing to integrate generative AI into their businesses.

“For three decades we’ve pursued accelerated computing, with the goal of enabling transformative breakthroughs like deep learning and AI,” Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA said in a news release. “Generative AI is the defining technology of our time. Blackwell is the engine to power this new industrial revolution. Working with the most dynamic companies in the world, we will realize the promise of AI for every industry.”

The tech company also announced the NVIDIA Quantum-X800 InfiniBand and Spectrum-X800 Ethernet platforms, which can connect with GB200-powered systems for the highest AI performance and deliver networking at speeds up to 800 gigabits per second (Gb/s).

AI application developers across a range of industries are using NVIDIA digital human technologies to create lifelike avatars for commercial applications and dynamic game characters. The results are on display at GTC, the global AI conference held this week in San Jose, California.

NVIDIA Corp. accelerates computing to help solve computational problems. The company has two segments. The computer and networking segment includes its data centre accelerated computing platform, networking, automotive AI cockpit, autonomous driving development agreements and autonomous vehicle solutions, as well as electric vehicle computing platforms, Jetson for robotics and other embedded platforms, along with NVIDIA AI Enterprise and other software and cryptocurrency mining processors. The graphics segment includes GeForce GPUs for gaming and personal computers.

NVIDIA stock (NASDAQ:NVDA) last traded at US$893.98 per share and has more than tripled in value in the past year, up 247.51 per cent. NVIDIA (NEO:NVDA) closed at C$84.57 on the NEO Exchange.
