Ophir Gold (OPHR) has commenced its 2021 drill program at the Beccia Gold Property with roadwork crew mobilization.

The company holds an option to earn 100 per cent interest in the property.

The roadwork contractors started preparing access to the first series of drill sites.

Drilling will test at depth and along strike in the core area at a 1.5 kilometre gold-baring trend where historical surface sample results have returned 4,621-ton surface cut bulk sample with an average grade of 0.335 ounces per ton gold.

The company said the program will also target the East Breccia Zone, where a new high-grade vein system was discovered in 2020, trending parallel to the main Breccia Zone.

Ophir Gold is permitted for up to 45,900 feet of diamond drilling. The initial drilling program is expected to contain at least 10,500 feet, while the company anticipates completing a property-wide controlled-source-audio-frequency magnetotellurics ground survey over the next few months.

The purpose of the survey is to map silicification and structure at depth as it relates to the hydrothermal system. The main objective is to refine drill hole targets in order to test high-grade mineralized body at depth.

The Breccia Gold property contains 98 claims covering roughly 1,973 acres within Idaho’s Black Mining District, located 40 kilometres southwest from Salmon, Idaho.

Exploration on the property dates back as far as the 1930s. The most recent exploration, which was done between 2018 and 2020, included the remapping -and sampling of the Meadows Fault Zone.

Shares of Ophir Gold were up 4.88 per cent to C$0.22 as of 5:40 p.m. EDT .
