Patriot One Technologies’ (TSX:PAT) threat detection platform has won the company a contract from Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC).

The contract will involve the purchase, deployment, and evaluation of Patriot One’s PATSCAN Multi-Sensor Covert Threat Detection Platform.

As part of the contract, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will deploy the Platform at an undisclosed prison facility.

Innovative Solutions Canada showed great interest in the PATSCAN Platform, which has Video Object Recognition Software (VRS).

In a correctional facility, VRS will detect contraband items like cellphones, and threats such as makeshift weapons and physical disturbances.

ISC has already evaluated and pre-qualified the platform through its Testing Stream, previously the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP).

The Testing Stream connects Canadian innovators with federal government departments that will test their inventions and provide feedback on them.

Dr James Stewart, from Patriot One’s SVP Video Analytics, commented on the contract.

“We are excited to demonstrate our capabilities to detect concealed and visible threat objects with our PATSCAN Platform.

It will help correctional facility management and guards quickly detect fights and disturbances that breakout between inmates,” he said.

Patriot One’s business development and engineering teams are already producing the PATSCAN Platform with teams at ISC and CSC. The Platform will be delivered, installed, and deployed at an unnamed facility in March, 2020.

After testing and evaluation onsite, Patriot One and CSC will discuss whether PATSCAN is suitable for further deployment across Canada.

Patriot One Technologies (PAT) is down 5.56 per cent, with shares currently trading for $1.02 at 1:33pm EST.
