POET (PTK) is announcing the production release of four optical engines for 100G, 200G and 400G.

The engines are targeting the telecom and data center markets.

The small form factor optical engines include directly modulated lasers (DMLs), optical multiplexer, high-speed photodiodes and optical demultiplexer, enabling cost efficiency, high scalability and low power needs. Customers may acquire the engines with an integrated fibre array unit (FAU).

The company reached the production milestone working alongside Super Photonics, the joint venture formed with Sanan IC of Xiamen, China.

POET and Super Photonics have finalized verification and reliability testing, allowing at least four active clients to proceed to internal product qualification. Purchase orders are expected to follow.

Super Photonics has already received an order for transceiver prototype builds for end-customer qualification.

A ramp-up to high-volume production is envisioned for the second half of 2023.

Vivek Rajgarhia, POET’s President and General Manager, spoke with Sabrina Cuthbert about the news and how it sets the stage for high-volume deployment.

POET Technologies offers integration solutions based on its POET Optical Interposer. This platform allows the seamless integration of electronic and photonic devices into a single multi-chip module using advanced wafer-level semiconductors.

POET Technologies Inc. (PTK) is up by 18.55 per cent, trading at $7.35 per share as of 9:43 am EST.
