Puma: Chinese major shareholder and restructuring pressure on the stock market

The long-established group Puma stands at an interesting point after turbulent months and the completed entry of its new Chinese major shareholder, Anta Sports. With the extraordinary election of Dennis Tao as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board and the court’s appointment of additional members, strategic influence from the Middle Kingdom is gaining noticeable weight, which is, of course, logical given the size of the stake in Puma. The share is currently trading around EUR 25.35 and has recently reclaimed the key 50- and 200-day moving averages. Nevertheless, market sentiment remains characterised by wait-and-see caution, as operational evidence of a sustainable recovery in profitability has yet to emerge.

Operationally, the company is looking back on a turbulent previous year, during which it recorded a substantial record loss and generated annual revenue of approximately EUR 7.3 billion. For the current financial year, it expects EBIT of between EUR -50 million and EUR -150 million. Some analysts, including Berenberg, have set a relatively ambitious price target of EUR 40.00. Other research firms remain more cautious. The upcoming quarterly report on October 30, 2026, will likely show whether inventories have normalised and whether the first operational improvements are already taking effect.

With a market capitalisation of around EUR 3.7 billion, Puma is moderately valued compared with direct competitors such as Adidas or Nike. However, this share price also reflects the ongoing restructuring costs and uncertainty. Whether the partnership with Anta Sports pays off operationally in distribution and in the important Asian market remains to be seen.

Investors could wait for the upcoming quarterly reports before taking a new position to see whether the sporting turnaround has a visible financial impact.

From a technical perspective, the share should gain further momentum if it manages to overcome the EUR 27.50 level. EUR 30 should then quickly come into sight too. On the downside, however, it should not fall below EUR 22 again, as that would threaten a test of the EUR 20 level.

BYD: Global expansion and regulatory headwinds

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD continues to dominate global headlines with its sales figures. However, this success is not translating into the same level of enthusiasm on the stock market; if anything, the share price has come under pressure. The stock has fallen more than 20% since the beginning of the year and most recently closed at EUR 7.90, weighed down by a shrinking domestic market and tightening export restrictions. Despite impressive technological innovations, including the new Blade Battery and ultra-fast charging concepts, investors are penalising the stock amid persistent margin pressure.

In September, the group delivered over 460,000 vehicles with alternative powertrains, of which over 180,000 were international exports. Nevertheless, cumulative nine-month sales fell slightly by just under 4% compared with the previous year. Management must achieve monthly sales of over 620,000 units in the final quarter to meet the internal annual target. Additional burdens loom from the planned reduction in the VAT refund for exports from 13% to 9% from April 2027 and from European caps on hybrid imports.

Despite these operational headwinds, many analysts see the company’s fundamental potential as intact and maintain price targets above EUR 14.00, which are ambitious given the current share price. BYD is steadily advancing its international expansion and developing local manufacturing capacity in Europe to circumvent protectionist trade barriers.

Those willing to bear the political and regulatory risks in the Asian export business will find here a technologically leading market leader at a significantly more attractive valuation than just a few months ago. BYD belongs on the watchlist as a rebound candidate.

BioNxt Solutions: Clinical milestones and chart potential

In the specialised biotechnology sector, BioNxt Solutions has recently seen subdued share price performance after a phase-related consolidation, but the current level of CAD 0.265 could spark renewed interest. The share has moved lower in recent weeks, prompting technically oriented investors to look for a possible turning point.

A sustained rise above CAD 0.37 to CAD 0.38 could trigger a breakout from the existing wedge formation and clear the way for significantly higher prices.

The company is consistently advancing its innovative platform for sublingual, orally dissolvable films (ODF) and completed GMP manufacturing of around 1,500 investigational film units of the cladribine drug candidate BNT23001 for multiple sclerosis in October 2026. In parallel, the company submitted the official clinical trial application through the European CTIS system after successfully completing the IMPD in August. The company is opening additional growth areas by extending the ODF platform to Everolimus in organ transplantation, underscoring its technological versatility.

In the short term, the share should continue working toward the CAD 0.30 level and then sustainably break above it to build fresh trading momentum. If this step succeeds, price regions towards CAD 0.50 to CAD 0.60 will move into the next range over the medium term, which would be lucrative for investors.

BioNxt is a biotech stock that could be entering a value-enhancing phase driven by regulatory milestones and clinical progress.

The stock should now be poised to break out of the wedge pattern.

Conclusion

Puma remains a classic restructuring case, with investment success largely dependent on the operational involvement of the new major shareholder Anta Sports and future quarterly figures. BYD impresses with operational scaling and technological innovation, but must hold its own against growing political headwinds in international trade – nevertheless, a rebound is possible at any time. BioNxt Solutions offers risk-tolerant investors an attractive opportunity in the biotech sector, with the short-term focus on a possible technical breakout above the key hurdles.
