Relay Medical (RELA) and Fio have delivered the first Fionet COVID-19 workflow software to Kenya’s Meru County Ministry of Health.

Fio Corporation develops and markets an integrated guidance and tracking IT platform for decentralised healthcare settings. In August 2020, Relay and Fio announced a joint venture, in order to launch and deploy a mobile COVID-19 testing and tracking platform for community-based settings.

The joint venture, called Fionet Rapid Response Group (FRR), is headquartered in Toronto.

Fionet is a mobile testing platform, developed to manage and track community-based infectious diseases, such as COVID-19. The Fionet workflow software, called Patient Manager, incorporates Kenya’s COVID-19 National Protocol.

It consists of five modules which link the patient journey throughout community-based healthcare facilities. The modules, Registration, Triage, Consultation, Lab, and Pharmacy, enable the coordination of patient care throughout the whole healthcare ecosystem, whilst adhering to mandatory national COVID-19 protocols.

In the Kenyan county of Meru, the Ministry of Health operates a network of approximately 140 community-based healthcare clinics. With the Patient Manager software delivered, Meru will now begin deploying Fionet across this network.

The CEO of Fio Corporation and the FRR joint venture, Dr Michael Greenberg, commented on the impact of this delivery in Kenya.

“Kenya is a leader in Africa, and Meru County is a leader in innovative mobile healthcare solutions in Kenya.

“We’re looking forward to Fionet being deployed across Meru and replicated elsewhere, not only in Kenya, but also across Africa and other parts of the world including North America and Europe,” he said.

Relay Medical (RELA) is up six per cent and is trading at C$0.26 per share at 1:12pm EDT.
