RJK Explorations Ltd. (TSXV:RJX.A) has finally discovered diamonds in the Cobalt region of Ontario, after searching for more than a year.

A 22-kilogram drill core produced 18 natural diamonds, four of which are around 0.2mm in size. The small sample was independently tested by CF Mineral Research Ltd.

The sample was part of the company’s 2019 winter drill program and two much larger samples, totalling 266 kilograms, are being sent to CF Mineral Research for analysis. However, the company has stated that COVID-19 restrictions could slow this process.

The analysis also found more than 50 diamond chips less than 0.1mm in size. However, the testers could not determine if these chips were artificial diamonds from the drill bits used in the extraction.

The company has been searching its Bishop and Kon properties in the region since early 2019. The company is focusing on this region because RJK believes that an 800-carrat diamond discovered in Cobalt over a hundred years ago could indicate further mineralisation in the area.

Glenn Kasner, RJK’s CEO, appears very pleased with the results.

“Discovering diamonds has been our primary goal for thirteen months, since RJK began working in the Cobalt region on the Bishop and Kon claims.

“At least eighteen diamonds thought to be natural by CFM, is well beyond our expectations. I am very confident in the personnel we have assembled, and together, we will continue to work to unlock the diamond and mineral potential of the Cobalt region,” he said.

The company is now temporarily suspending drilling over spring to comply with the government’s COVID-19 shutdown measures. RJK expects to restart a drill program at a neighbouring area of interest.

RJK Explorations Ltd (RJX.A) is up 104 per cent, with shares trading for C$0.24 at 12:52pm EST
