Steyr Motors: Takeover offer triggers share price surge – 200-day moving average reclaimed
With a share price surge of more than 20%, the shares of Steyr Motors AG moved into the spotlight at the start of the week. The shares rose sharply from last Friday’s close, breaking above key moving averages in the process. A US takeover offer provided the decisive impetus, giving the previously struggling shares fresh momentum.
US drone and robotics specialist Red Cat Holdings intends to acquire all shares in the Austrian engine manufacturer through its subsidiary SMOT Acquisition. A voluntary public cash offer of EUR 39 per share is planned. This represents a premium of just under 29% to last week’s closing price. Based on the outstanding shares, the transaction value amounts to around EUR 205 million. The stock market thus already priced in a substantial portion of the announced premium.
Strategically, the focus is primarily on unmanned surface vessels. Red Cat wants to combine Steyr Motors’ propulsion technology with its autonomous maritime systems business. The Austrian company develops specialist engines for demanding military and civilian applications. According to the prospective buyer’s plans, the headquarters, manufacturing, and research and development are to remain in Austria. Red Cat also holds out the prospect of further investment and growth opportunities.
Anchor shareholder B&C Holding Österreich, which holds around 15% of the shares, supports the proposal and has committed to accepting the offer. Nevertheless, the transaction has not been completed. The proposed conditions include regulatory approvals and a minimum acceptance threshold of 50% plus one share. Completion is expected in the first half of 2027, subject to these conditions.
From a technical analysis perspective, the share price surge brought a marked improvement. On Friday, the shares had still been trading below the 100-day and 200-day moving averages. The jump into the range between EUR 36 and EUR 37 took them back above both averages for the first time. Of particular interest is the long-term 200-day moving average at EUR 36.21, which currently still represents resistance. The 100-day moving average stands at EUR 31.74, while the 20- and 50-day averages stand at EUR 30.18 and EUR 29.51, respectively and also provide support. Following the strong jump, the stock is back above three of the four moving averages shown on the chart.
What matters now is whether the share price can next establish itself sustainably above the 200-day moving average. If it succeeds, the technical breakout would be confirmed. On the upside, the announced offer price of EUR 39 forms the obvious reference point. In the event of a sharper correction, the 100-day moving average and the range between EUR 30 and EUR 32 would then come back into focus.
dynaCERT: From Pilot Projects to an International Order Book
The Canadian cleantech company dynaCERT has recently been attracting renewed investor attention. The investment story is increasingly shifting from pure technology development towards international product marketing. The patented HydraGEN™ technology is intended to reduce diesel consumption and emissions from existing commercial vehicle and industrial fleets without operators having to replace their entire vehicle fleet.
This retrofit approach fits an environment in which decarbonisation is being driven forward politically at an international level and rising energy costs are putting pressure on companies’ investment budgets. For many fleet operators, upgrading their fleets is easier to justify economically than switching entirely to new propulsion systems. New management under CEO Kevin Unrath has clearly geared the company toward sales, deal-making and international implementation. This strategic shift comes at a time of rising diesel prices, and every efficiency gain per kilometre driven progressively increases the economic benefit for customers.
The latest developments underline this realignment. Through its distribution partner IPMD, dynaCERT is driving market penetration in France. With pilot projects ongoing, dynaCERT recorded a follow-up order from an existing customer in September. The technology was also jointly demonstrated directly to professional drivers and fleet operators at the “24 Heures Camions” trade fair in Le Mans.
In parallel, the company has been pursuing an international sales initiative since the second half of 2026, focusing on heavy goods transport, port operations and stationary power generation. It has already had a presence at IAA Transportation and, until yesterday, at TOC Americas, while the Breakbulk Asia trade fair in November and POWERGEN International in January 2027 are still to come. HydraGEN’s hardware business is complemented by the HydraLytica software layer, which records engine consumption and operating data in real time. At the same time, this forms the basis for data-driven monetisation of emissions reductions through certified carbon credits.
For the capital market, alongside the key revenue and profit figures, the conversion rate of trade fair contacts into initial and repeat orders will be particularly relevant in the coming months. The planned extension of the outstanding USD 1 million convertible bond’s maturity to October 2027, subject to Toronto Stock Exchange approval, gives the company the financial flexibility to do so. If the order backlog builds quarter by quarter and Canadian production ramps up accordingly, the share’s bottoming-out phase, underway since the end of 2025, should finally be complete. The risk-reward ratio is therefore particularly attractive in the current market situation.
Gerresheimer: Sharp share price jump – can a sustained breakout now succeed?
Gerresheimer AG shares continued their recovery at the start of the week with a sharp price jump. The price even reached a high of EUR 33.28, moving well above the EUR 30 level that had been repeatedly contested recently. After months of fluctuations, this opens up a new technical perspective. At the same time, the question remains whether operating performance justifies the growing optimism.
Behind this are progress in the group’s restructuring and an improvement from the year’s disappointing start. The manufacturer of pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery systems published preliminary second-quarter figures at the end of September. Revenue reached EUR 578 million, EUR 55 million above the previous quarter. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose EUR 35 million to EUR 102 million.
The adjusted EBITDA margin improved by 5 percentage points compared with the first quarter to 17.6%. However, this does not yet indicate a full return to previous profitability levels. In the corresponding prior-year quarter, Gerresheimer had generated adjusted EBITDA of EUR 126 million on revenue of EUR 614 million. The latest figures therefore show a quarter-on-quarter recovery, while year-on-year declines persist.
Another component is debt reduction. In early October, Gerresheimer announced the completion of the sale of its US subsidiary, Centor, to a company owned by Apax funds. The company will use the proceeds to repay liabilities. Together with the agreed sale of the Primary Packaging Plastics business unit, the transaction is based on a combined enterprise value of around EUR 1,500 million. Completion of the second sale is expected in the first half of 2027. This progress was already known before the latest jump in the share price.
From a technical perspective, the breakout above the zone between EUR 30 and EUR 32 is particularly notable. Previous recovery attempts had repeatedly stalled there. At EUR 32.06, the share is now above all four moving averages under consideration. The 20-day moving average stands at EUR 28.34, the 50-day at EUR 27.87, and the 100-day at EUR 27.45. The long-term 200-day moving average is at EUR 25.02.
For the upward movement to continue, the share should first hold above the zone it has broken through. If it succeeds, the area around EUR 35 could then come into focus as the next technical target zone. By contrast, a fall back below EUR 30 would call the breakout into question. Below that, the cluster of short- and medium-term moving averages between around EUR 27.50 and EUR 28.50 forms a potential support zone.
Conclusion
Steyr Motors gains significantly in value on the back of the takeover offer at EUR 39 per share, but regulatory approvals and the minimum acceptance threshold remain crucial. dynaCERT is expanding its international sales network and has announced a follow-on order in France. For the turnaround already taking shape on the charts to gain traction, revenue from repeat orders will need to continue growing over the coming months. Gerresheimer is improving its quarterly results and pushing ahead with debt reduction. However, the latest price breakout needs sustained operational stabilisation of revenue and profit margins.
